Overview
Introduction
Alfred is the visual workspace for AI-driven development. It gives your team — humans and agents alike — one shared screen to plan, execute, and assemble software using the AS2 framework.
AS2 replaces standup meetings and integration sprints with three precise roles — Architect, Operator, and Orchestrator — and a six-phase Silent Cycle that runs continuously without human coordination. Alfred is the workspace that makes this operational for real teams.
Beta
Alfred is in private beta. Documentation is updated weekly as features ship.
Four terms to know
These four concepts appear throughout these docs. They replace the traditional vocabulary of tickets, epics, and sprints.
An independent unit of work. Self-contained, testable, and mergeable in isolation. Every feature is broken into Shards before work begins.
A machine-readable spec attached to each Shard. Defines inputs, outputs, and logic constraints. AI agents follow the Manifest precisely — no ambiguity.
The AI gatekeeper. Audits every completed Shard against its Manifest. Rejects non-compliant Shards and assembles validated ones into the live codebase.
A live, interactive map of your entire codebase — every file, API, and dependency. Grounds every agent action in real code, not assumptions.
In these docs
Start with Quick Start to run your first agent task in under 5 minutes. Then read What is AS2? to understand the framework. Features are documented in the Features section below.
Kanban Board
Create tasks, assign them to agents or squads, track progress from Backlog to Done.
Agent Squad Monitor
Watch every agent lane in real time. The Orchestrator manages handoffs and constraints automatically.
Knowledge Graph
An interactive map of your entire codebase — every file, API, and dependency, auto-updated on every PR.
Context Editor
Add focus windows, constraints, and success criteria visually. No YAML. No prompt engineering.
